The new Silent Brass™ system consists of a smaller, lighter mute with almost natural blowing resistance and the Personal Studio™, which features Yamaha's exclusive Brass Resonance Modeling™ technology. Together, these two components reproduce the natural sound of the instrument as if played without mutes.

Personal Studio™ STJ
When the Personal Studio™ is connected to a computer or smart device via the supplied USB cable, it is possible to record at home or participate in online classes. No audio interface or complicated wiring is required. The Personal Studio™ STJ is not just a personal practice device, but a tool that allows the player to connect with the world from the comfort of their own home.
Personal Studio™ STJ can be connected to the free Rec' n' Share app for smart devices. This makes it possible to play along to audio files stored on the device and capture the performance as an audio recording or video that can be shared online. Rec' n' Share includes a function that can change the playback tempo of the original music, an AB repeat function that repeats the playback of a specific A-B section, a function that can analyse the original music and add a corresponding click track, and other functions that make practising more productive and enjoyable.

Silent Brass Mute™
The Silent Brass Mute™ is a state-of-the-art pickup mute with integrated microphone. The new remarkably light and compact Silent Brass Damper™ system reduces the sound in an impressive way. Intonation remains stable in all registers. The playing feel is excellent due to the optimal air flow and almost natural blowing resistance. Due to the new compact design, the complete mute fits into the bell and can thus also be stored in the case.

Brass Resonance Modeling™
The unique Brass Resonance Modeling™ technology takes mute playing to a whole new level, giving the player an authentic and natural feel. The sound is picked up by the microphone in the mute, transformed by Brass Resonance Modeling™ into the sound that would normally come out of the bell without a mute, and transmitted to the player via headphones as if playing without a mute.
